DTF Transfers for Bohemia, NY Salons, Barbershops and Tattoo Studios
A salon, barbershop or tattoo studio in Bohemia, in the Town of Islip, is printing to a chair count, not a warehouse. Twelve staff tees, a small rack of retail hoodies, a run of stickers for the front desk. Standard DTF transfers are $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, with no minimum order, so twelve pieces is a normal order.
What a chair-count shop actually orders
The typical order from a chair-based shop is small and it repeats. Six to twenty-four staff tees with a left chest mark, a dozen retail hoodies with a large back print, and a sheet of die-cut stickers for the counter. Then it repeats when a new stylist or artist starts, when an apprentice finishes, or when a flash day or guest week needs its own shirt. Because there is no minimum on standard DTF, you can print three shirts for one new hire instead of sitting on a case of blanks you bought to clear someone else's minimum. Die-cut vinyl stickers are $0.22 per square inch, so a 3 by 3 inch sticker is $1.98.
Left chest, back print, and what the bounding box costs
You pay for the bounding box, not the ink coverage. A 3.5 by 3 inch left chest mark is 10.5 square inches, so $0.63 per transfer. A 2 by 2 inch sleeve hit is $0.24. An 11 by 14 inch full back is 154 square inches, so $9.24. Twelve staff tees carrying a left chest plus a 10 by 2 inch back wordmark comes to $1.83 in transfers per shirt, $21.96 for the whole set. Pre-cut contour cutting is $0.29 per transfer if you want the piece trimmed to the artwork instead of squared off. Free shipping starts at $99, contiguous US.
One sheet, six artists, six different designs
Six artists, six logos, one sheet. DTF gang sheets are 14 inches wide at the same $0.06 per square inch, charged on sheet area, in fixed lengths: 14x18 is $15.12, 14x24 is $20.16, 14x36 is $30.24, and 14x72 is $60.48. Leave at least 0.25 inch between designs. On a 14 by 24 sheet you can sit four 6.5 by 5 inch designs across the top and nine 3.5 by 3 inch left chests underneath, 13 transfers for $20.16, and still have room left. Because you pay for the sheet, packing is the whole game. The free drag-and-drop builder and the auto-build packer show you the empty space before you buy it.
UV DTF for mirrors, tool cases and retail bottles
Apparel is not the only branded surface in a shop. UV DTF transfers are $0.10 per square inch and apply to hard, smooth goods: station mirrors, clipper cases, machine cases, tumblers, retail bottles and jars. A 3 by 3 inch logo is $0.90. Twenty aftercare bottles carrying a 2 by 3 inch label run $0.60 each. Custom UV DTF carries a $35 order minimum, and UV DTF gang sheets are 24 inches wide rather than 14. Raised UV patches at $0.65 per square inch and dimensional UV graphics at $0.10 take 48 hours instead of shipping same day, because the cure and build stages are additive.
Press settings for tees, blends and shop aprons
Cotton staff tees press at 300 to 325 F. Polyester and performance blends, which is what most shop aprons and moisture-wicking cut shirts are made from, press at 285 to 300 F. Ten to fifteen seconds and medium-firm pressure either way. Applied to spec, the transfer is rated for 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F, which is the number that matters when staff shirts go through the wash every shift. Coated or water-resistant cape fabric and towelling with a pile are not reliable substrates, so test one piece before you commit a stack. Send artwork as a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, sized at final print size.
Getting it to Bohemia: the 3 PM Eastern cutoff
Place an order by 3 PM Eastern on a business day and it is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. That is the standard service for every customer, not an upgrade and not a rush fee. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day. Production runs Monday to Friday. Shipping is not delivery: standard transit is 2 to 5 business days, expedited is 1 to 3. Our only location is 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington NY 11743, where pickup is available the same business day after production, by appointment. A $19.99 flat-rate local courier option also appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.
Who orders from Bohemia
Barbershops
Six to twelve staff tees with a left chest mark and a back wordmark, reprinted each time a chair changes hands. At $0.63 per left chest transfer there is no reason to over-order blanks for a barber who may not stay.
Hair and nail salons
Smocks and aprons in poly blends press at 285 to 300 F, and the same left chest file also runs on retail hoodies and tote bags for the front desk. Reorders reprint from the same 300 DPI PNG at the same price.
Tattoo and piercing studios
Flash art moves better on a shirt than on a wall. Gang sheets let six artists each get their own design on one 14 inch sheet, and die-cut vinyl stickers at $0.22 per square inch cover the counter giveaway.
Booth renters and independent stylists
One chair, no merch budget. No minimum on standard DTF means a three-shirt run is a real order, and a 3.5 by 3 inch left chest transfer is $0.63, so the blanks cost more than the print does.
Bohemia questions
- Is there a minimum order for staff shirts for my Bohemia shop?
- No minimum on standard DTF transfers, so three shirts for one new stylist is a normal order. Minimums only exist on a few specialty lines: puff DTF at 10 units, custom UV DTF at a $35 order minimum, and leatherette patches at 10 per shape and color.
- How fast can I get DTF transfers delivered to Bohemia?
- Order by 3 PM Eastern on a business day and it ships that same business day. That is standard for every customer. Transit to Suffolk County is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited. Pickup in Huntington is available the same business day after production, by appointment, and a $19.99 flat-rate courier option shows at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.
- Can you print transfers for barber capes and salon aprons?
- Poly and poly-blend aprons press at 285 to 300 F for 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. Coated or water-resistant cape fabric is a different problem: many are not rated for a heat press at all, so test a single piece before running a stack. Cotton aprons and tees take 300 to 325 F.
- Can each artist in the studio have a different design on one order?
- Yes. Put them on a gang sheet. A 14 by 36 inch sheet is $30.24 and holds a mix of sizes as long as you leave 0.25 inch between designs. The drag-and-drop builder and the auto-build packer are free on the site, and you cut the sheet apart yourself.
- What happens if a transfer comes out wrong?
- Production defects get reprinted. Per our terms, report a defective or incorrect order within 7 days of delivery with photos. Applied to spec, meaning 300 to 325 F on cotton, 10 to 15 seconds, medium-firm pressure, a transfer is rated for 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F.
