DTF Transfers for Farmingdale, NY Makers, Student Brands and Small Manufacturers
Farmingdale orders tend to fall into two buckets: somebody testing a first design on three shirts, and a small manufacturer putting a logo on work shirts and then on the product itself. Both are served from one price list and one cutoff. Standard DTF is $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, and orders placed by 3 PM Eastern ship the same business day.
Two very different orders, one price list
Two kinds of job come out of Farmingdale and the wider Nassau County side of Long Island, and they sit at opposite ends of the same rate card. One is a first run: three shirts, one graphic, somebody finding out whether the idea works before spending real money on it. The other is a small manufacturer putting a logo on two dozen work shirts, then the same logo on a case lid. Both pay $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box on standard DTF. There is no minimum on standard transfers, so the three-shirt test is not priced as a favour and the 24-shirt run is not priced as a volume deal. The rate is the rate.
What a 24-shirt shop order actually costs, placement by placement
Take a typical shop shirt: a 4 by 3 inch left chest logo and an 11 by 4 inch name bar across the shoulders. The chest is 12 square inches, so $0.72. The back bar is 44 square inches, so $2.64. That is $3.36 of transfer per shirt and $80.64 for 24 shirts, before blanks. Add pre-cut contour cutting at $0.29 per transfer if you want them trimmed and ready to hand to whoever is at the press. Press cotton at 300 to 325 F, polyester at 285 to 300 F, 10 to 15 seconds, medium-firm pressure. Applied to spec, the print holds 50 plus commercial wash cycles at 104 F.
The one-shirt test run, and what it costs to be wrong
A 10 by 12 inch front graphic is 120 square inches, so $7.20 as a single transfer. Order three to try three garment colours and you have spent $21.60. That is the point of no minimum: you find out the halftones plug up, or the outline goes too thin, for the price of lunch instead of a screen setup. Send a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, sized at final print size. If the background is still white, the free browser-based knockout tool on the site will clear it before you order, and the per-square-inch calculator will price the layout first.
Gang sheets are 14 inches wide, and the arithmetic is honest
Gang sheets bill on sheet area, not design area: $0.06 per square inch of the whole sheet at fixed lengths, 14x18 $15.12, 14x24 $20.16, 14x36 $30.24, 14x48 $40.32, 14x54 $45.36, 14x72 $60.48. Minimum spacing is 0.25 inch. On a 14 by 24 sheet you fit fifteen 4 by 4 inch logos, three across and five down, which is $1.34 each. The same logo as fifteen individual transfers is $0.96 each, because you are not paying for the gaps. So gang sheets win when you are mixing many different designs onto one sheet, not when you repeat one. The auto-build packer fills the sheet for you.
Branding the hard goods, not just the shirts
Shirts are not the only thing a small manufacturer needs marked. UV DTF is $0.10 per square inch and goes onto hard, smooth surfaces: case lids, tool boxes, equipment panels, bottles, parts bins. A 3 by 3 inch mark is $0.90. No heat press required, and UV DTF gang sheets run 24 inches wide. Standard DTF, UV DTF and DTF gang sheets all ship same day. The specialty UV work does not, because the cure and build stages are additive: raised UV patches at $0.65 each, dimensional UV graphics at $0.10 per square inch, fauxbroidery and luxury branding transfers run 48 hours. Leatherette patches and puff DTF run 72 hours.
Getting it from Huntington to Farmingdale
Everything is printed, inspected and packed at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743, which is the only location. Place an order by 3 PM Eastern on a business day and it is handed to the carrier that same business day. That is the standard service, not a rush fee and not an upgrade. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it goes the next business day. Production runs Monday to Friday. Same-day shipping is not same-day delivery: standard transit is 2 to 5 business days, expedited 1 to 3, free on orders $99 and up. Pickup in Huntington is by appointment the same business day after production.
Who orders from Farmingdale
Students and first-time brand owners
Print one shirt or three before committing to a run. A 10 by 12 inch front is $7.20, there is no minimum on standard DTF, and a bad proof costs you seven dollars instead of a full screen setup.
Small manufacturers and fabrication shops
Left chest and back bar transfers for work shirts at $3.36 a shirt, plus UV DTF at $0.10 per square inch for marking case lids, equipment panels and parts bins with the same logo file.
Decorators and press owners taking small jobs
Outsource the printing, keep the pressing. Order pre-cut with contour cutting at $0.29 per transfer, mix client logos onto one 14 inch gang sheet, and get it on a carrier the same business day.
Student clubs, teams and campus groups
Small, deadline-driven runs with artwork that changes every semester. Gang sheet a mix of names, numbers and crest logos at 0.25 inch spacing rather than paying for repeat setups each time.
Farmingdale questions
- Can I order just one DTF transfer, or is there a minimum?
- No minimum on standard DTF transfers. You pay $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, so a 4 by 4 inch left chest is $0.96 and a 10 by 12 inch front is $7.20. Puff DTF has a 10 unit minimum and leatherette patches are 10 per shape and colour.
- If I order in the morning from Farmingdale, will it arrive today?
- No. Orders placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day are printed and handed to the carrier that same business day, but transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited. For a faster hand-off, pickup at the Huntington facility is available by appointment the same business day after production.
- Is a gang sheet cheaper than ordering transfers individually?
- Not always. Gang sheets charge $0.06 per square inch of the whole sheet, including the 0.25 inch gaps, so fifteen 4 by 4 inch logos on a 14 by 24 sheet cost $1.34 each versus $0.96 each ordered individually. Gang sheets pay off when you are combining many different designs on one sheet.
- What file do I need to send for my artwork?
- A 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, saved at the final print size. If your logo still has a white box behind it, run it through the free background knockout tool on the site first. The pricing calculator will tell you the cost of a given width and height before you upload anything.
- Can you deliver to Farmingdale instead of shipping it?
- A $19.99 flat-rate local courier option appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses, so check your address at checkout rather than assuming it. Otherwise shipping is free on orders $99 and up in the contiguous US, and pickup at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington is available by appointment.
