DTF Transfers for Massapequa Travel Teams and Spirit Wear
Massapequa runs on travel sports and spirit wear, and both of those are transfer jobs: names, numbers, left chests and hoodie backs, in roster-sized runs that change the week before a tournament. We print standard DTF at $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, and an order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is handed to the carrier that same day.
Roster math at $0.06 a square inch
Start with one player. A two-digit back number at 8 by 10 inches is 80 square inches, so $4.80. A name bar at 2 by 10 inches is 20 square inches, so $1.20. A left chest mark at 3.5 by 3.5 inches is 12.25 square inches, so $0.74. That is $6.74 per player, or $94.36 for a roster of fourteen. Add a 3 by 3 sleeve hit at $0.54 each and you clear the $99 free shipping line at $101.92. Pricing is bounding box, not ink coverage, so a hollow outline number costs exactly what a filled one costs.
The 14 inch rule that decides gang sheet versus single transfer
Gang sheets are 14 inches wide and billed at the same $0.06, except you pay for sheet area instead of design area. Minimum spacing is 0.25 inch, so anything wider than 6.875 inches only fits one per row and the rest of that row is dead space you bought. That rules out most 10 to 12 inch backs. It does not rule out the small stuff: left chests, sleeve hits and bag tags pack three across all day. A 14 by 36 sheet is $30.24 and a 14 by 72 is $60.48. Water bottles and hard goods are UV DTF instead, $0.10 per square inch on 24 inch sheets.
Preorder windows close with odd numbers, and that is fine
Spirit wear sells in windows. You open the form, you close it, and you print exactly what sold. No minimum on standard DTF means the count on the spreadsheet is the count you order, so eleven hoodies is eleven transfers. It also means youth sizes cost less rather than the same: a 10 by 12 adult front is 120 square inches at $7.20, while the same art scaled to 8 by 9.6 for youth is 76.8 square inches at $4.61. Twenty-four adult fronts is $172.80 and ships free. If two people pay late, order two more the next morning at the identical rate.
Tuesday roster change, Saturday tournament
Production runs Monday to Friday. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it moves to the next business day. Shipping same day is not delivery same day: standard transit is 2 to 5 business days and expedited is 1 to 3, so a Tuesday morning order on expedited lands Wednesday to Friday. Three other routes exist for Nassau County: free shipping at $99 and up, pickup at our Huntington shop the same business day by appointment, and a $19.99 flat-rate courier option that appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.
Poly jerseys and cotton fleece do not press the same
Two garment types dominate this work and they want different heat. Cotton tees and fleece take 300 to 325 F. Polyester jerseys and performance tees take 285 to 300 F, and running those at the low end of the range is the safer habit. Both run 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. Applied to spec, the print holds 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F, which is the number that matters when a jersey goes through the machine after every tournament weekend. Pressing a whole roster on a Thursday night, add pre-cut contour cutting at $0.29 per transfer. Fourteen numbers is $4.06 and no trimming at the table.
Turning a group chat JPG into a printable file
Team art usually arrives as a JPG off a flyer or a screenshot from a group thread. What the printer needs is a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, sized at final print size. Our browser-based knockout tool strips the white box off a logo without Photoshop. The pricing calculator gives you the per-square-inch number before you commit, the drag-and-drop gang sheet builder lets you place designs yourself, and the auto-build packer fills a sheet for you. There are 2,434 ready-to-print designs in the catalog if you need a number set or a generic mascot while the real art is still being argued over.
Who orders from Massapequa
Team parents running names and numbers
You have a roster, a numbering sheet and a deadline. Order names, numbers and chest marks as individual transfers priced by bounding box, add contour cutting, and press them yourself on jerseys you already bought.
Spirit wear and fundraiser coordinators
Preorder windows close with odd counts. With no minimum on standard DTF you order exactly what sold, scale youth art down to pay less per print, and reorder late payers the next morning at the same rate.
Heat press side businesses serving local teams
You quote by the piece and buy by the square inch. Gang the small work on 14 inch sheets, order 10 to 12 inch backs individually, and hold less stock because same-day shipping lets you buy per job.
Coaches handling a mid-season add
A player joins Tuesday and plays Saturday. One number and one name bar is a legal order with no minimum, ships the same business day if it is in by 3 PM Eastern, or can be picked up in Huntington.
Massapequa questions
- Can I get DTF transfers before a weekend tournament?
- It depends on when you order. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern, Monday to Friday, is handed to the carrier that same business day. Standard transit is 2 to 5 business days and expedited is 1 to 3, so a Tuesday order on expedited realistically lands Wednesday to Friday. For a tighter window, pick up in Huntington the same business day by appointment.
- What does a full set of names and numbers cost for a 14-player roster?
- Work it in square inches. An 8 by 10 back number is 80 square inches at $0.06, so $4.80. A 2 by 10 name bar is 20 square inches, so $1.20. A 3.5 by 3.5 left chest is $0.74. That is $6.74 per player and $94.36 for fourteen. Pre-cut contour cutting adds $0.29 per transfer.
- Is there a minimum order for team transfers?
- Not on standard DTF. One transfer is a legal order, which is what makes a mid-season roster add workable. Minimums exist elsewhere in the catalog: puff DTF is 10 units, custom UV DTF carries a $35 order minimum, and leatherette patches are 10 per shape and color. Gang sheets have no minimum either, just 0.25 inch spacing between designs.
- Will the prints survive a jersey washed after every weekend?
- Applied to spec, yes: 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F. Spec is 300 to 325 F for cotton, 285 to 300 F for polyester, 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. Hold the full dwell rather than cutting it short partway through a long roster run. Production defects are reprinted when reported within 7 days of delivery with photos.
- Can I pick transfers up on Long Island instead of shipping?
- Yes. Local pickup is at our Huntington shop, 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, the same business day after production, by appointment. That is our only location, so there is nothing to walk into in Massapequa itself. A $19.99 flat-rate local courier option also appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses, and shipping is free on orders of $99 and up.
