DTF Transfers for Port Washington Spirit Wear and PTA Fundraisers

Spirit wear volume arrives in waves: a kickoff run in late August, a spirit week reorder in October, field day shirts in May. We print DTF transfers at $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, and anything ordered by 3 PM Eastern on a business day goes to the carrier that same day. Port Washington orders ship from Huntington.

Square inch arithmetic for a spirit wear run

Price is bounding box area times $0.06, so the design size sets the bill. A 9 by 11 full front is 99 square inches, or $5.94. A 3.5 by 3.5 left chest is 12.25 square inches, or $0.74. An 11 by 14 adult front is 154 square inches, or $9.24. A 120 shirt run at 10 by 12.5 is 125 square inches each, or $900 in transfers. Free shipping starts at $99, which is 1,650 square inches of standard DTF, roughly seventeen 9 by 11 fronts. There is no minimum on standard DTF, so a 12 piece staff run and a 400 piece fundraiser price the same way.

One design, youth small through adult 3XL

A fundraiser sells YS through adult 3XL off one piece of art, and the transfer should not be a single size for all of them. Scale it. Youth small at 6.5 by 8 is 52 square inches, or $3.12. Youth large at 8 by 10 is 80 square inches, or $4.80. Adult medium at 10 by 12.5 is 125 square inches, or $7.50. Adult 2XL at 12 by 15 is 180 square inches, or $10.80. Order counts per size rather than one average size, and sort the transfers into labeled bags before the press session. Sorting 200 mixed transfers at a folding table costs more than the price difference.

Parent-supplied artwork and what actually prints

Spirit wear art usually arrives as a JPG a parent made, or a logo pulled off a website at 72 DPI. Neither prints well. We need a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, saved at final print size, so a 9 by 11 front is a 2700 by 3300 pixel file. If the art has a white box behind it, run it through the free background knockout tool in the browser before uploading. Thin outlines and small text under about a 0.1 inch stroke will thin out on press, so thicken them in the file first. If you need generic spirit art to build from, the catalog holds 2,434 ready to print designs.

Gang sheets are a layout tool, not a discount

DTF gang sheets are 14 inches wide and priced at $0.06 per square inch of sheet area: 14x18 $15.12, 14x24 $20.16, 14x36 $30.24, 14x48 $40.32, 14x54 $45.36, 14x72 $60.48. Because you pay for sheet area, whitespace costs the same as ink. Minimum spacing between designs is 0.25 inch. Three 4.5 inch columns plus two 0.25 inch gaps is exactly 14 inches, so 4.5 wide art nests three across. Five inch art nests only two and leaves 3.75 inches of width unused. Use the auto-build packer to find the shortest sheet that holds your layout. Individual transfers, priced on each bounding box, are usually the cheaper route.

The mid-season reorder and the 3 PM Eastern cutoff

The pattern is predictable: a kickoff order, a sellout, then a committee asking for 40 more before the next event. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets are same day products. An order in by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day. Shipping is not delivery: standard transit is 2 to 5 business days, expedited 1 to 3. Pickup in Huntington is same business day after production, by appointment. A $19.99 flat rate local courier option appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.

Pressing poly spirit blanks without scorching them

Spirit wear blanks are rarely all cotton. Cotton tees press at 300 to 325 F. Polyester and performance blends press at 285 to 300 F. Both run 10 to 15 seconds at medium firm pressure. Stay at the low end on poly, because red, navy and maroon poly will bleed dye into a white transfer if you overheat it. Press one test piece per blank style before you commit 150 shirts. Applied to spec, transfers hold 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F, which matters when a shirt has to survive a full school year. Report any defective or incorrect order with photos within 7 days of delivery and we reprint it.

Who orders from Port Washington

PTA fundraising committees

A grade level fundraiser running one design from YS to adult 2XL. Order transfers per size, press them onto bulk blanks, and keep the margin with the school instead of a third party web store.

Spirit week and field day organizers

Grade color shirts, one-off spirit day tees, and moving up shirts. No minimum on standard DTF means a 14 piece class set prices at the same $0.06 per square inch as a 400 piece run.

Volunteers pressing in-house

A clamshell press and a folding table in a cafeteria. Transfers arrive sorted, press at 285 to 300 F on poly blanks for 10 to 15 seconds, and there are no screens, setup fees or per color charges.

Order by 3 PM Eastern and it ships the same business day, so you can quote a reorder without holding spirit wear inventory or guessing at size breaks months ahead of the event.

Port Washington questions

How fast can I get spirit wear transfers in Port Washington?
Standard DTF ordered by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. Transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited. Orders placed after 3 PM, on a weekend, or on a federal holiday ship the next business day. Production runs Monday to Friday.
What do transfers cost for a 100 shirt PTA fundraiser?
It depends on design size, not on quantity. At $0.06 per square inch, 100 youth fronts at 9 by 11 (99 square inches) is $594. The same count at 8 by 10 is $480. Adding a 3.5 by 3.5 left chest at $0.74 each puts another $74 on the order. Blanks and pressing are separate costs.
Can we pick up instead of shipping?
Yes. Pickup is at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743, same business day after production, by appointment. That is our only location, so there is no drop off point in Port Washington. A $19.99 flat rate local courier option also appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses, and shipping is free at $99 and up.
What file should our parent volunteer send?
A 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, saved at final print dimensions. A 10 by 12 front should be a 3000 by 3600 pixel file. If the art sits on a white background, the free browser knockout tool will strip it. Screenshots, JPGs and logos copied from a website are usually too low in resolution to print cleanly.
Should the fundraiser order gang sheets or individual transfers?
Individual transfers are priced on each design's bounding box, so you pay only for the art. Gang sheets are priced on sheet area at $0.06 per square inch and are 14 inches wide, so empty space costs the same as printed space. Gang sheets make sense when you want many small designs on one sheet and will cut them yourself.
