DTF Transfers for St. James Nonprofits and Charity Walks
If you are printing shirts for a charity walk, a volunteer crew or a fundraiser in St. James, the two things that decide the job are the per square inch price and the deadline. Standard DTF transfers are $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, and an order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is handed to the carrier that same business day.
What a walk shirt actually costs at $0.06 per square inch
A charity walk tee is usually two placements. A 10 by 12 inch back print is 120 square inches, which at $0.06 per square inch is $7.20. A 3 by 3 inch left chest mark is 9 square inches, or $0.54. That is $7.74 of transfer per shirt before blanks. Eighty walkers comes to $619.20, which clears the $99 free shipping threshold many times over. Pricing runs off the bounding box of the design, not the ink, so empty space inside that box is billable. Crop tight, and pull a wide script title down to the smallest rectangle that still holds it. That is where the budget moves.
Head counts move, and no minimum lets you chase them
Registration closes late and the shirt count is never the number you were given in the planning meeting. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum order, so you do not have to guess high and eat the leftovers. Print 60 for the committee and the early registrants, then add 18 the week of the event. The second order is priced the same way, per square inch of the same artwork, so the late batch does not cost more per piece than the first. Orders placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day are printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day.
Sponsor tiers, logo sizes, and the files sponsors send you
Sponsor recognition is the part that gets billed back, so size it deliberately. At $0.06 per square inch a 4 by 4 inch top tier logo is $0.96, a 3 by 3 is $0.54, and a 2 by 2 is $0.24. Setting the whole sponsor block as one bounding box, say 11 by 4 inches at $2.64, is usually the better call: one press cycle instead of six, and one alignment to get right. Sponsors will send you a low resolution JPG with a white box behind the mark. The browser based background knockout tool on the site strips that. What we need back is a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size.
Ganging a season of artwork onto 14 inch sheets
Gang sheets are 14 inches wide with fixed lengths, priced at $0.06 per square inch of sheet area: 14 by 36 is $30.24, 14 by 72 is $60.48. Minimum spacing between designs is 0.25 inch. Do the packing math before you assume a sheet is cheaper. With 3.5 inch logos and 0.25 inch gaps the pitch is 3.75 inches, so three fit across and nineteen rows fit down 72 inches. That is 57 logos for $60.48, about $1.06 each, while a single 3.5 by 3.5 transfer is $0.74. Sheets earn their keep when the artwork is mixed: volunteer backs, board shirts, a dated event logo and six sponsor marks on one sheet.
Pressing with whoever shows up to help
Most fundraiser shirts get pressed by whoever is available, so write the settings on the box. Cotton runs 300 to 325 F, polyester 285 to 300 F, both at 10 to 15 seconds with medium firm pressure. Mixed blanks are normal for a walk: cotton adult tees, poly performance shirts for the runners, youth sizes for the family wave. The transfer is the same, only the temperature changes. Press one spare shirt first and check a corner before you run the stack. Applied to spec, the print holds 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F, which matters when a volunteer shirt gets worn every season.
Three ways the box reaches St. James
St. James sits in the Town of Smithtown in Suffolk County, and there are three ways to take delivery. Ship it: free on orders of $99 and up in the contiguous US, 2 to 5 business days standard or 1 to 3 expedited. Pick it up: same business day after production, by appointment, at our Huntington facility, which is our only location. Or take the $19.99 flat rate local courier option, available at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses. Work backwards from the event date. A Saturday walk on standard transit wants the order placed the Monday before, not Thursday night.
Who orders from St. James
Charity walk and 5K committees
Back prints and chest marks for a head count that keeps moving, a top up batch after registration closes, and a per shirt transfer cost the treasurer can put on one auditable line.
Volunteer and staff coordinators
Small identification runs across the year for greeters, setup crew and board members. With no minimum on standard DTF, a run of twelve is a real order rather than a number you have to inflate.
Fundraiser and gala organizers
Auction volunteer shirts, tote bags and sponsor recognition pieces priced by the square inch, so a sponsorship tier can be quoted with the actual cost of the logo sitting behind it.
Nonprofits working without a designer
A free pricing calculator, gang sheet builder, background knockout tool and a catalog of 2,434 ready to print designs, so a sponsor's JPG becomes a usable transparent PNG without buying software.
St. James questions
- Is there a minimum order for a small nonprofit run in St. James?
- No. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum, so twelve volunteer shirts is a normal order. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets all have no minimum. Minimums exist elsewhere in the catalog: puff DTF is 10 units, custom UV DTF has a $35 order minimum, and leatherette patches are 10 per shape and color.
- Our walk is on a Saturday. When do we need to order?
- Production runs Monday to Friday. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day ships that same business day, but transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited. For a Saturday event on standard shipping, order by the Monday before. Same day shipping is not same day delivery.
- Can we add shirts after registration closes?
- Yes. There is no minimum on standard DTF, so a top up run of 15 or 20 is fine, priced per square inch exactly like the first batch. Place it by 3 PM Eastern on a business day and it goes to the carrier that day. If timing is tight, use expedited transit or pickup in Huntington.
- A sponsor sent their logo as a JPG with a white background. Can you use it?
- Use the free background knockout tool on the site to remove the white, then export a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size. If the source file is small and pixelated, knocking out the background will not add detail. Ask that sponsor for a vector or high resolution file.
- How do we get the order to St. James?
- Shipping is free on orders of $99 and up in the contiguous US, 2 to 5 business days standard. Pickup is available the same business day after production, by appointment, at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1 in Huntington, our only location. A $19.99 flat rate courier option appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.
