DTF Transfers for Yaphank Contractor and Trade Crews
Crews working out of Yaphank and the rest of the Town of Brookhaven need logo'd workwear that survives a job site, not a merch drop. We print DTF transfers at $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, with no minimum order, and an order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is handed to the carrier that same day.
What a Yaphank crew order actually contains
Trade orders are rarely one big front print. They are a left chest mark around 3.5 by 3 inches, a back banner around 11 by 3 inches so the company name reads from across a site, a 3 by 3 inch sleeve mark, and 4 by 1 inch name strips. Garments run cotton tees and 50/50 hoodies in the cold months, polyester hi-vis tees and vests, canvas jackets, work shirts and beanies. Billing is $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, so crop the file tight. Empty transparent margin inside that box still counts. Send a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size.
Costing a twelve person crew, line by line
A left chest at 3.5 by 3 inches is 10.5 square inches, so $0.63. A back banner at 11 by 3 inches is 33 square inches, so $1.98. Two placements is $2.61 a shirt. Twelve shirts is $31.32. Run the same set on twelve hoodies for the fall and you are at $62.64 for the year's core uniform marks, before garments. Free shipping starts at $99, so a crew doing tees and hoodies in one order usually clears it. Pre-cut contour cutting is $0.29 per transfer if you want them trimmed to shape instead of cut on the bench. The per square inch calculator on the site prices any dimensions you type in.
Press settings for hi-vis and canvas, not just cotton tees
Cotton tees and cotton rich hoodies press at 300 to 325 F. Polyester hi-vis shirts, vests and performance polos press at 285 to 300 F, because poly scorches and dye migrates well before cotton does. Both run 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. Applied to spec, the transfer holds 50+ commercial wash cycles at 104 F, which is the number that matters when shirts go through a weekly service wash. Keep the platen off reflective striping, and check with the garment maker before covering background material on an ANSI rated piece. Pre-press to drive out moisture, and use a pillow to clear zippers, pocket seams and placket edges on work shirts and canvas jackets.
Two transfers for a new hire is a normal order here
Trades hire mid season. Someone starts in July and needs three shirts, not fifty. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum, so a two piece reorder is priced at the same rate per square inch as a hundred piece run. Keep your artwork at final print size and reorder the exact same file when the next person starts, so the mark stays consistent across the crew instead of drifting a quarter inch bigger every year. Minimums only exist on specialty products: puff DTF at 10 units, leatherette patches at 10 per shape and color, and custom UV DTF at a $35 order minimum.
The 3 PM Eastern cutoff, and what it means for a Brookhaven job site
Same day shipping is the standard service, not an upgrade and not a fee. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day. Production runs Monday to Friday. Same day shipping is not same day delivery: standard transit is 2 to 5 business days, expedited is 1 to 3. Shipping is free on orders of $99 and up in the contiguous US. Pickup at the Huntington facility is same business day after production, by appointment, and a $19.99 flat rate local courier option appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.
Gang sheets for name strips and small crew marks
Gang sheets are 14 inches wide at fixed lengths: 14x18 $15.12, 14x24 $20.16, 14x36 $30.24, 14x48 $40.32, 14x54 $45.36, 14x72 $60.48. Minimum spacing between designs is 0.25 inch. Run the maths before you commit. Name strips at 4 by 1 inch fit three across, and an 18 inch sheet takes about 14 rows, so 42 strips for $15.12, roughly $0.36 each. The same 42 strips ordered individually are 4 square inches each at $0.24, or $10.08. Sheet area is billed whether or not it is filled. At full fill a sheet costs exactly what the designs cost individually, so mix sizes and use the auto-build packer to close the gaps.
Who orders from Yaphank
General contractors and remodelers
You brand tees and hoodies at the start of a season, then add pieces every time a sub or a new hire shows up. Left chest plus back banner, reordered in twos and threes, with no minimum either way.
HVAC, electrical and plumbing shops
Work shirts and poly polos with a left chest mark and a 4 by 1 inch name strip per tech. Small counts, frequent reorders, and a press temperature closer to 285 to 300 F on polyester.
Excavation, landscaping and site crews
Polyester hi-vis tees and vests through the warm months, hooded sweatshirts and beanies once it turns. High garment turnover means reordering the same file often, so keep it at 300 DPI and final size.
Uniform suppliers and shops pressing for trades
Buy transfers and press them yourself. No minimum on standard DTF, $0.06 per square inch, and same business day carrier handoff on anything in by 3 PM Eastern lets you quote short lead times.
Yaphank questions
- Can you print DTF transfers for hi-vis safety shirts and vests?
- Yes. Hi-vis garments are usually polyester, so press at 285 to 300 F for 10 to 15 seconds with medium-firm pressure, rather than the 300 to 325 F you would use on cotton. Keep the platen off reflective striping, and check with the garment maker before covering background material on an ANSI rated piece.
- What does a left chest logo and a back banner cost for a 12 person crew?
- A 3.5 by 3 inch left chest is 10.5 square inches, so $0.63. An 11 by 3 inch back banner is 33 square inches, so $1.98. That is $2.61 per shirt, or $31.32 for twelve. Add $0.29 per transfer only if you want them pre-cut to shape instead of trimmed on the bench.
- I only need transfers for two new hires. Is there a minimum order?
- No. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum, so two name strips and two left chest logos is a normal order at the same per square inch rate as a large run. The minimums that exist are on specialty items: puff DTF at 10 units, leatherette patches at 10 per shape and color, and custom UV DTF at a $35 order minimum.
- If I order Friday afternoon, when does it actually ship to Yaphank?
- Production runs Monday to Friday. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same day, at no extra charge. Friday at 4 PM ships Monday. Transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited.
- Can I pick the order up, or have it delivered on Long Island?
- Pickup is at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington NY, same business day after production and by appointment. A $19.99 flat rate local courier option appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses. Shipping is free on orders of $99 and up within the contiguous US. Questions go to 631-458-3842.
