DTF Transfers for Embroidery and Screen Shops in Port Jefferson Station, NY

If you run an embroidery or screen printing shop in Port Jefferson Station, DTF is the outsourced line that covers the jobs your equipment cannot make money on: six-piece full-color runs, last-minute add-ons after a screen is reclaimed, and art that is too detailed to digitize. We print it, you press it. Orders in by 3 PM Eastern on a business day go to the carrier the same day.

What a Port Jefferson Station decorator sends out instead of running in-house

The pattern is consistent across contract shops. Left chest logos at 3.5 x 3.5 inches, which is 12.25 square inches and $0.74 at $0.06 per square inch. Full fronts at 10 x 12, which is 120 square inches and $7.20. Sleeve hits at 2 x 11, $1.32. Back neck labels at 3 x 1.5, $0.27. There is no minimum on standard DTF transfers, so a six-shirt order prices the same per piece as a sixty-shirt order. That is the whole reason to subcontract: your cost scales linearly, and you can quote a short run without eating a setup you will never recover.

Bounding box or sheet area: run the number before you gang

Individual transfers price on the bounding box of the design. Gang sheets price on the area of the sheet. It is $0.06 per square inch either way, so packing efficiency is the entire question. Twenty-seven 3.5 x 3.5 chest logos fit on a 14 x 36 sheet at the 0.25 inch minimum spacing, three across and nine down. That sheet is $30.24, or $1.12 per logo. Ordered as individual transfers, the same twenty-seven come to $19.85. For one repeated design, order individuals. Gang sheets earn their keep when you are combining mixed sizes and several jobs onto one sheet you cut down at the press.

Where DTF beats a screen setup, and where it does not

Screens win on volume and on one or two colors. DTF wins when the color count climbs and the piece count stays low, because there is no separation, no registration, and no underbase screen to burn. A four-color front on 18 shirts is a full setup amortized over 18 pieces. The same front as a 10 x 12 transfer is $7.20 each with the white underbase already in the print. Past a few dozen pieces on a simple one or two color mark, keep it on press. Below that, or on anything photographic or gradient heavy, the transfer is usually the cheaper line on your job sheet.

Fauxbroidery, patches and the orders a hoop cannot take

Embroidery shops send us three things a machine handles badly. Fauxbroidery DTF gives an embroidery look on performance poly, nylon and lightweight knits that pucker in a hoop, and it prices without digitizing. Leatherette patches cover hat and bag branding, minimum ten per shape and color. Raised UV patches at $0.65 and dimensional UV graphics at $0.10 per square inch handle hard goods and dimensional branding. Note the timing difference: those specialty UV items run 48 hours, and leatherette patches and puff DTF run 72 hours. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets are the same-day products. Send a 300 DPI PNG, not a DST.

Planning production around the 3 PM Eastern cutoff

Production runs Monday to Friday. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. There is no rush fee and no upgrade tier, because that is the standard service. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day. Shipping same day is not delivery same day. Standard domestic transit is 2 to 5 business days and expedited is 1 to 3. For a contract shop that means a Monday morning order is realistically pressable later that week, and a Friday afternoon order moves Monday.

Getting transfers to your shop in Brookhaven

Three routes. Ship it: free on orders of $99 and up in the contiguous US, 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited, and we ship to all 50 states. Pick it up: same business day after production, by appointment, at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743, which is our only location. Or take the $19.99 flat-rate local courier option, which appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses. For a Suffolk County shop, pickup by appointment is the tightest loop: a morning order can be in your hands after production on the same business day.

Who orders from Port Jefferson Station

Embroidery shops quoting under twelve pieces

Digitizing plus a machine minimum kills a six-piece order. A 3.5 x 3.5 standard or fauxbroidery transfer prices at $0.74 with no minimum, so you quote the job, press it, and keep the account.

Screen printers covering reorders and add-ons

The screen is reclaimed and the customer wants nine more. Standard DTF has no minimum and no setup, so the reorder runs at the same per-piece cost whether it is nine shirts or ninety.

Sign, promo and uniform dealers adding apparel

No printer, no dryer, no screens. A heat press at 300 to 325 F for cotton, 10 to 15 seconds, medium-firm pressure, is the entire equipment list for reselling decorated garments under your own shop name.

Shops handling names, numbers and one-offs

Back neck labels at 3 x 1.5 inches cost $0.27 each and player names price by their own bounding box, so personalization stops being the loss leader you squeeze between real jobs.

Port Jefferson Station questions

Can I resell these transfers under my own shop name?
Yes. We print your artwork and nothing else on the sheet, so what arrives is a transfer carrying your customer's design. Applied to press spec, the print holds 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104F, which is what matters when your name is the one on the invoice.
What is the minimum order for contract DTF?
There is no minimum on standard DTF transfers, so six left chests is a real order. The exceptions sit elsewhere in the catalog: puff DTF has a ten unit minimum, custom UV DTF has a $35 order minimum, and leatherette patches are ten per shape and color.
I only have DST and vector files. What do you need?
A 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, sized to final print dimensions. We do not print from a stitch file, so export a raster version at size instead. If the art came to you as a JPG on a white background, the free background knockout tool on our site will strip it in the browser before you upload.
If I order Tuesday at 2 PM, when can I press?
It goes to the carrier that same Tuesday. Standard transit is 2 to 5 business days and expedited is 1 to 3, so set the press date off transit rather than off the print date. If you can get to Huntington, pickup by appointment is same business day after production.
Do gang sheets save money on a repeating logo?
Usually not. Individual transfers price on the design bounding box and gang sheets price on sheet area, both at $0.06 per square inch, so you only come out ahead if you pack the sheet tightly. Use the auto-build packer on the site to check your fill before committing to a 14 x 36 or 14 x 48.
