DTF Transfers for Smithtown Pines Salons, Barbers and Tattoo Studios
Salons, barbershops and tattoo studios in Smithtown Pines order in small, frequent runs: six staff shirts, a dozen retail hoodies, a sheet of flash art, a decal for the station mirror. Long Island DTF Printing prints those at $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, and anything ordered by 3 PM Eastern on a weekday leaves the shop the same business day.
The six-shirt order, not the six-hundred-shirt order
A barbershop with six chairs does not need 144 shirts. It needs three shirts per barber, a couple of spares, and the same design again in eight weeks when someone new starts. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum, so six is a real order and so is one. Price is $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, which means a 3.5 by 3.5 inch left chest logo is 12.25 square inches, or about $0.74 per transfer. Eighteen of them is $13.23. Reorder the same file next month at the same rate. Nothing about the price changes because the run got smaller.
Chest logo, back yoke, apron panel: run the numbers
Work in bounding boxes and the arithmetic is quick. A 3.5 by 3.5 chest mark is $0.74. An 11 by 14 back print is 154 square inches, or $9.24. A 2.5 by 2.5 nail-bar logo is 6.25 square inches, about $0.38. Eighteen shirts carrying a chest mark and a full back come to roughly $179, which clears the $99 threshold for free contiguous US shipping on its own. Add the pre-cut contour cutting option at $0.29 per transfer if you want each piece trimmed and ready to grab, rather than a sheet somebody has to cut down between clients.
Gang sheets for flash art, and when they are not worth it
A tattoo studio with fourteen different designs is the classic gang sheet case. Sheets are 14 inches wide at fixed lengths: 14x18 is $15.12, 14x24 is $20.16, 14x36 is $30.24, 14x48 is $40.32, 14x54 is $45.36, 14x72 is $60.48. Keep at least 0.25 inch between designs. Worth knowing before you build one: the sheet is priced on sheet area at the same $0.06, so it is never cheaper per square inch than individual transfers, only equal when you pack it full. What it buys you is one piece of film instead of fourteen, with mixed sizes nested together. Use the drag-and-drop builder or the auto-packer to see the fill before you pay.
UV DTF for mirrors, glass and retail bottles
Shirts are not the whole order. UV DTF transfers apply to hard, smooth surfaces with no heat press: station mirrors, front glass, product bottles, tool cases. They run $0.10 per square inch, so a 6 by 6 mirror decal is $3.60 and a 2 by 3 label for a retail bottle is $0.60. UV DTF gang sheets are 24 inches wide. Die-cut vinyl stickers are $0.22 per square inch, which puts a 3 by 3 shop sticker at $1.98, the kind of thing that goes in an aftercare bag. Raised UV patches at $0.65 per square inch and fauxbroidery are 48 hour products, so plan those further out than the shirts.
Capes and aprons get washed more than tees do
Salon linens go through the machine constantly, which is the real durability test. Applied to spec, transfers hold 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104F. Press spec is 300 to 325F for cotton, 285 to 300F for polyester, 10 to 15 seconds, medium-firm pressure. Most barber capes and plenty of salon aprons are polyester, so stay in the lower band. Test one piece before you press a full set, especially on anything with a nap or a coating. Artwork should be a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size. If your flash or logo only exists as a flat JPG, the browser-based knockout tool on the site will strip the background.
Getting it to Smithtown Pines
We print in Huntington, New York. That is our only location, so a Smithtown Pines order arrives one of three ways. Ship: free on orders $99 and up in the contiguous US, 2 to 5 business days standard or 1 to 3 expedited. Pick up: same business day after production, by appointment, at the Huntington facility. Or the $19.99 flat-rate local courier option, available at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses. Same-day means we hand the box to the carrier the same business day, not that it lands the same day. Orders after 3 PM Eastern, on weekends, or on federal holidays go out the next business day. Production runs Monday to Friday.
Who orders from Smithtown Pines
Barbershops and men's grooming studios
Three shirts per barber, a chest mark and a back print, then the same file again when a chair turns over. No minimum means a six-shirt reorder costs the same per square inch as the first run.
Hair, nail and lash salons
Small chest logos on staff tees, fauxbroidery on aprons, UV DTF decals for station mirrors and retail bottle labels. Press capes and aprons in the 285 to 300F polyester window and they survive daily laundering.
Tattoo and piercing studios
Retail tees and hoodies with 12 by 16 back prints at $11.52 each, mixed flash art nested on a 14x36 gang sheet for $30.24, and 3 by 3 die-cut vinyl stickers at $1.98 for aftercare bags.
Booth renters and independent stylists
One transfer is a valid order. A 3.5 by 3.5 personal logo runs about $0.74, so you can test a design on two shirts before committing, then reorder at the same rate once clients start asking.
Smithtown Pines questions
- Do I have to order a minimum number of shirts for my salon?
- No. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum order, so six staff shirts is a normal order and so is one. Price stays $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box whatever the quantity. Some specialty items do carry minimums: puff DTF is 10 units, leatherette patches are 10 per shape and color, and custom UV DTF has a $35 order minimum.
- Can you print transfers for barber capes and polyester aprons?
- Yes, using the polyester press window. Run 285 to 300F for polyester and 300 to 325F for cotton, 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. Capes are usually polyester, so stay at the low end and press one before you do the whole set. Applied to spec, prints hold 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104F.
- My tattoo flash is only a JPG. Can you still print it?
- Usually. We need a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size. The free background knockout tool on our site runs in your browser and strips a flat white or grey background off a scan. Clean line work knocks out well. Heavy photographic shading is harder and may need redrawing first.
- If I order today, when does it reach Smithtown Pines?
- There are two separate clocks. Order by 3 PM Eastern on a business day and it is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day, at no extra cost. Transit is then 2 to 5 business days standard or 1 to 3 expedited. Orders after 3 PM, on a weekend, or on a federal holiday ship the next business day.
- Can I pick the order up instead of having it shipped?
- Yes. Local pickup is at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743, same business day after production and by appointment. Smithtown Pines sits in the Town of Smithtown in Suffolk County, so the $19.99 flat-rate local courier option may also appear at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses. Call 631-458-3842 to set a pickup time.
