DTF Transfers for Newark, NJ Independent Apparel Brands
If you run an independent apparel label in Newark, your print costs get decided in small quantities: one sample, then a colorway, then a restock. Long Island DTF Printing prices standard DTF at $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, with no minimum on standard transfers. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern ships from our Huntington, NY shop that same business day.
Print the sample before you buy the inventory
A drop lives or dies on the first pressed sample. Standard DTF has no minimum here, so a single 11 by 14 inch front costs 154 square inches at $0.06, or $9.24. Print it, press it on the exact blank you plan to sell, wash it, then decide. Three colorway variants of the same front is $27.72 total. That is cheaper than guessing, and cheaper than committing 72 pieces to a graphic that reads muddy on a heather. Use the per-square-inch calculator to price a variant before you upload, and the browser-based knockout tool if your mockup art still has a white box behind it.
Drop-day arithmetic for a 48 piece colorway
Say the drop is 48 tees with a 12 by 16 inch front and a 3.5 by 3.5 inch left chest on each. The front is 192 square inches, $11.52 each, $552.96 for 48. The left chest is 12.25 square inches, about $0.74 each, $35.28 for 48. Transfers total $588.24, shipped free because it clears $99. Add a 2 by 11 inch sleeve hit at 22 square inches, $1.32 each, and the sleeve run is $63.36. None of those per-piece numbers change if you order 12 instead of 48, so you can restock in whatever size the sell-through actually justifies.
Gang sheets: you pay for the sheet, so pack the sheet
DTF gang sheets are 14 inches wide at fixed lengths, priced at $0.06 per square inch of sheet, not of art: 14x18 is $15.12, 14x24 is $20.16, 14x36 is $30.24, 14x48 is $40.32, 14x54 is $45.36 and 14x72 is $60.48. You pay for the whitespace, so the only way a sheet beats individual pricing is dense packing, and minimum spacing is 0.25 inch. A 14 by 48 at 0.25 inch gaps holds three 3.5 inch left chests across and twelve down, 36 pieces for $40.32. Ordered individually those same 36 cost $26.46. Sheets earn their place when you are mixing many different small graphics into one file, not when you are repeating one. The drag-and-drop builder and the auto-build packer both show the fill before you buy.
Tagless necks, sleeve strips and the rest of the label kit
Branding prints run small and cheap. A 2 by 2 inch tagless neck mark is 4 square inches, $0.24 each. A 2 by 11 inch sleeve strip is $1.32. A 4 by 1 inch hem tag is $0.24. Build the whole identity kit in one order so it lands with the main graphic. Specialty finishes take longer and should be ordered ahead of the drop rather than with it: fauxbroidery and dimensional UV graphics are 48 hours, puff DTF and leatherette patches are 72 hours, puff carries a 10 unit minimum, and leatherette is 10 per shape and color. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets are the same-day products.
Getting it to Essex County, or collecting it in Huntington
Newark is in Essex County, outside our local delivery area, so everything moves by carrier. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. That is the standard service on every order, not an upgrade and not a fee. Transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited, with free shipping at $99 and up in the contiguous US. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day, and production runs Monday to Friday. Pickup at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY is available the same business day after production, by appointment.
Pressing onto the blanks a label actually uses
Heavyweight cotton, ring-spun blends and poly performance pieces all take the same transfer but not the same dial. Cotton presses at 300 to 325 F, polyester at 285 to 300 F, both for 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. For blends, start at the polyester end and step up if the hand feels loose after a peel test. Applied to spec, the print holds 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F. Send artwork as a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size, because a 150 DPI file scaled to 12 inches prints exactly as soft as it looks on screen.
Who orders from Newark
Independent labels planning a capsule drop
Sample one 11 by 14 inch front for $9.24, press it on the real blank, wash it, then order the colorway. No minimum means the restock can be 8 pieces or 80 without the per-transfer price moving.
Designers running collaborations and one-offs
Single transfers price the same as bulk. A 10 by 12 inch front is $7.20 whether you order one or one hundred, and a file uploaded before 3 PM Eastern goes to the carrier that business day.
Brands extending the label onto hard goods
UV DTF is $0.10 per square inch on 24 inch wide sheets for packaging, cases and rigid surfaces. Die-cut vinyl stickers are $0.22, and raised UV patches are $0.65 each on a 48 hour build.
Sellers fulfilling to order instead of holding stock
Order transfers in the quantity the week actually sold and press as orders land. Watch the 3 PM Eastern cutoff: a Friday evening order ships Monday, since production runs Monday to Friday only.
Newark questions
- Can I order one DTF transfer to sample a design before a drop?
- Yes. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum order. An 11 by 14 inch front is 154 square inches at $0.06, so $9.24 for one piece. Press it on the blank you plan to sell and wash test it before you commit inventory. Free shipping starts at $99, so a single sample order will carry a shipping charge.
- How fast do transfers get from Huntington to Newark, NJ?
- Orders placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day are printed and handed to the carrier that same business day. After that cutoff, or on a weekend or federal holiday, they ship the next business day. Carrier transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited. Same-day shipping is not same-day delivery, so plan your press date around transit.
- Is a gang sheet cheaper than ordering my designs individually?
- Not automatically. Gang sheets are billed at $0.06 per square inch of the 14 inch wide sheet, so unused space is paid space. Repeating one small graphic is usually cheaper priced individually. Sheets win when you pack many different designs tightly, with a minimum 0.25 inch gap. The auto-build packer shows the fill before you pay.
- Do you have a Newark or Essex County location for pickup?
- No. Our only facility is 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743, and that is where every order is printed. Pickup there is available the same business day after production, by appointment. Otherwise we ship to all 50 states, free on orders $99 and up in the contiguous US.
- What press settings should I use on blends and poly blanks?
- Cotton takes 300 to 325 F and polyester 285 to 300 F, both for 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. For blends, start in the polyester range. Applied to spec, the transfer holds 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F. Report a defective or incorrect order within 7 days of delivery with photos and we reprint it.
