The tickets that leave an embroidery shop first
Gradient and photographic art that will not digitize cleanly. Runs of six or twelve where the digitizing cost eats the job. Youth sizes and lightweight performance knits where hooping distorts the panel and stabilizer shadows through. Multi color left chests that would carry a stitch count nobody wants to quote. Those are the tickets that get subcontracted first. If the customer will not give up the stitched look, fauxbroidery DTF gets close, and so do raised UV patches at $0.65 per square inch and leatherette patches sold in tens per shape and color. The clock changes on those: fauxbroidery is 48 hours, leatherette and puff DTF are 72.
Where DTF beats pulling screens, and where it does not
DTF has no setup, so color count is free and per piece cost is flat from one unit up. A 12 x 14 front is 168 square inches, which is $10.08 per piece, and 24 pieces is $241.92. Put that against your own screens, emulsion, reclaim, ink and setup time on a four or six color job and the crossover usually sits somewhere in the low hundreds of pieces. Below it, DTF wins on a reorder you were not planning to re-screen. Above it, pull the screens. DTF also lets print size change garment to garment inside the same run at no penalty, which screens do not.
Gang sheet or singles: do the arithmetic first
Gang sheets are 14 inches wide at $0.06 per square inch of sheet area, in fixed lengths: 14x18 $15.12, 14x24 $20.16, 14x36 $30.24, 14x48 $40.32, 14x54 $45.36, 14x72 $60.48. Minimum spacing is 0.25 inch. Work an example. A 14 x 36 sheet holds 3 across and 9 down of a 3.5 x 3.5 logo, so 27 logos for $30.24, about $1.12 each. Ordered as 27 individual transfers the same art is $19.85. For uniform rectangles, singles are cheaper. Sheets earn their keep when shapes nest inside each other's bounding boxes: arched text, long scripts with descenders, L shaped lockups. The drag and drop builder and the auto build packer are free.
The 3 PM Eastern cutoff against your press calendar
Production runs Monday to Friday. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. That is the standard service, not an upgrade and not a fee. Placed after 3 PM Eastern, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day. Same day shipping is not same day delivery. Standard transit is 2 to 5 business days, expedited 1 to 3, so schedule your press day off the transit window rather than the ship date. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets are the same day products. Raised UV, dimensional UV and fauxbroidery are 48 hours; leatherette and puff DTF are 72.

- Press polyester at 285 to 300 F and cotton at 300 to 325 F, 10 to 15 seconds, medium firm pressure. Applied to spec, transfers are rated for 50 plus commercial wash cycles at 104 F. With no minimum you can buy one transfer and test your platen and dwell before committing a run.
- What file do you need, and what happens if a transfer comes out wrong?
- A 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background, sized at final print size. The free browser based knockout tool on the site will strip a white background if your customer sent a JPG. Production defects are reprinted. Per our terms, report a defective or incorrect order within 7 days of delivery with photos.
