DTF Transfers for Selden, NY Print and Embroidery Shops
If you run an embroidery or screen printing shop in Selden, DTF is the line you add without buying another machine. We print standard DTF transfers at $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, from our Huntington facility in Suffolk County. Orders placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day go to the carrier that same day.
The runs that do not pay on a press
A screen shop's break-even is setup, not ink. A twelve-piece four-color job costs the same in screens and registration as a six-hundred-piece run, and the short ones are exactly the ones walking in the door: a reorder of eight, a photographic front, a four-color left chest that needs an underbase. Those go to DTF. There is no minimum on standard transfers, so a single 11 by 14 front is a legitimate order at $9.24. You keep the job, keep the customer, and keep your press free for the runs that actually amortize.
What DTF does that a digitized file cannot
Embroidery hits a wall on fine detail. Text under a quarter inch fills in, gradients have to be faked with fill patterns, and a photographic mark is not a stitch file at all. A 3.5 by 3.5 left chest printed as DTF is 12.25 square inches, so $0.74 per piece, with no digitizing charge and no sew-out to approve. When the customer wants the embroidered look, fauxbroidery DTF gives you the raised stitch texture on a 48 hour build. Leatherette patches run 72 hours at 10 per shape and color, and raised UV patches are $0.65 per square inch on 48 hours.
Bounding box or sheet area: the only pricing decision you make
Both routes are $0.06 per square inch. The difference is what gets measured. A standard transfer is priced on the bounding box of your design, so a 10 by 12 front is 120 square inches, $7.20. A 14 inch gang sheet is priced on sheet area: 14 by 36 is 504 square inches at $30.24, 14 by 72 is 1008 at $60.48. Repeated rectangular art is cheaper as standard transfers, because you never pay for whitespace. Sheets win when the art is irregular or the run is mixed: nest twenty different customers' logos, tuck 3 by 3 sleeve marks into the corners a round crest leaves empty, and hold 0.25 inch spacing between designs.
Building the 3 PM cutoff into your production week
Same-day is the standard service here, not an upgrade and not a fee. An order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. After 3 PM, or on a weekend or federal holiday, it ships the next business day. Production runs Monday to Friday. Shipping is not delivery: standard transit is 2 to 5 business days, expedited is 1 to 3, and shipping is free at $99 and up in the contiguous US. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets are the same-day products. Raised UV, dimensional UV and fauxbroidery are 48 hours; leatherette and puff DTF are 72.
Three ways a Brookhaven shop takes delivery
Our only facility is 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington, NY 11743, so a Selden shop has three options. Ship it: free at $99 and up, 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited, all 50 states. Pick it up: same business day after production, by appointment, at the Huntington facility. Or take the $19.99 flat-rate local courier, which appears at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses across Brookhaven and the rest of Suffolk County. Which one you pick usually comes down to whether the garments are already on your racks or still on a truck.
Art specs and press numbers your operator needs
Send 300 DPI PNG files with a transparent background, sized at final print dimensions. If the customer sent you a JPEG on white, the browser-based knockout tool on the site strips the background before you upload. Press cotton at 300 to 325 F, polyester at 285 to 300 F, 10 to 15 seconds, medium-firm pressure. Applied to spec, transfers hold 50 plus commercial wash cycles at 104 F. Pre-cut contour cutting is $0.29 per transfer if you want your operator handling shapes instead of squares. Production defects are reprinted: report a defective or incorrect order within 7 days of delivery with photos.
Who orders from Selden
Embroidery shops taking on print work
Quote the left chest that is too fine to stitch, skip the digitizing charge and the sew-out approval, and keep the uniform account in house. A 3.5 inch square chest mark runs $0.74 per piece with no minimum.
Screen print shops covering short runs
Send out the 12 to 72 piece multi-color jobs that never earn back their screens. Order by 3 PM Eastern and the transfers go to the carrier that business day, so your press stays on the long runs.
Promotional and uniform decorators
Consolidate a week of one-off client logos onto a single 14 inch gang sheet. A 14 by 72 is 1008 square inches for $60.48, pressed as garments arrive from different blank suppliers.
Shops evaluating DTF before buying equipment
Run real customer jobs through DTF without film, powder, a curing oven or a daily maintenance routine. No minimum on standard transfers means you can test one piece before you quote a contract.
Selden questions
- Can a Selden screen shop order DTF transfers with no minimum?
- Yes. Standard DTF transfers have no minimum order, so a single transfer is a valid order. Minimums exist only on a few specialty items: puff DTF at 10 units, custom UV DTF at a $35 order minimum, and leatherette patches at 10 per shape and color.
- If I order at 2 PM, when do the transfers reach my shop in Selden?
- The order is printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. Transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited, free at $99 and up. If you need them sooner, pick up at the Huntington facility by appointment or check the $19.99 local courier option at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses.
- What does a left chest DTF transfer cost per piece?
- Standard DTF is $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box. A 3.5 by 3.5 inch chest mark is 12.25 square inches, so $0.74. A 4 by 4 is 16 square inches, $0.96. A 3 by 3 sleeve hit is $0.54. A full front at 11 by 14 is 154 square inches, $9.24. No screens, no setup, no digitizing.
- Should I order a gang sheet or individual transfers?
- Standard transfers are priced on each design's bounding box; gang sheets are priced on sheet area at the same $0.06 per square inch. Repeated rectangular art is cheaper as standard transfers. Choose a sheet when you are consolidating mixed jobs or nesting irregular shapes into space a bounding box would charge you for anyway. Keep 0.25 inch between designs.
- Can I get an embroidered look without a stitch file?
- Fauxbroidery DTF gives the raised, stitch-like texture without a digitized file, and it builds in 48 hours rather than same day. Raised UV patches are $0.65 per square inch, also 48 hours. Leatherette patches are 72 hours with a minimum of 10 per shape and color. Standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets remain the same-day products.
