DTF Transfers for Dix Hills Landscaping, Marine and Outdoor Crews
Landscaping, marine and outdoor service crews in Dix Hills wear their branding into mud, salt and sun, then wash it hot every night. That is a printing problem before it is a marketing one. We print custom DTF transfers at $0.06 per square inch with no minimum, and an order placed by 3 PM Eastern on a business day is handed to the carrier that same day.
What an outdoor crew actually puts on a shirt
Most of the work is a left chest mark and a large back panel. Left chest lands around 3.5 by 3 inches, the back panel around 11 by 11 on adult sizes, sleeve marks around 3 by 2.5. The garment mix is the part that changes through the year: cotton tees and hooded sweatshirts in the shoulder seasons, hi-vis polyester tees and long sleeve sun shirts once the days get long, heavier fleece for cleanup season. Crews run small, often four to thirty people, and they churn. There is no minimum on standard DTF transfers, so ordering three chest logos for three new hires in June is a normal order, not a special case.
The math on a twelve-person crew
Standard DTF is $0.06 per square inch of the design's bounding box, so the price falls out of the tape measure. A 3.5 by 3 inch left chest is 10.5 square inches, $0.63. An 11 by 11 inch back is 121 square inches, $7.26. A 3 by 2.5 inch sleeve is 7.5 square inches, $0.45. That is $8.34 of transfer per shirt across all three placements. Twelve shirts comes to $100.08, which clears the $99 free shipping threshold for the contiguous US. If you would rather not trim 36 pieces by hand, the pre-cut contour cutting add-on is $0.29 per transfer, $10.44 across that order.
Pressing on hi-vis polyester, cotton tees and sun shirts
Press spec is 300 to 325 F for cotton, 285 to 300 F for polyester, 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. That split matters more on this work than in a cotton-only shop, because hi-vis tees, sun shirts and most performance layers are polyester and will scorch or gloss at cotton temperatures. Run poly at the low end of the range, keep the dwell honest, and press one sample before you commit the run. Applied to spec, the transfers hold 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F, which is the number that matters when shirts go through a machine every night of the season.
Gang sheets versus individual transfers for small batches
Both standard transfers and gang sheets are $0.06 per square inch, but gang sheets are billed on sheet area, not on your artwork. A 14 by 36 sheet is $30.24 whether you fill it or not, and minimum spacing between designs is 0.25 inch. Sheets are 14 inches wide, so anything up to about 6.75 inches wide nests two across. An 11 inch back panel does not, and it wastes the edge. The practical rule: run the auto-build packer, look at how much sheet comes back empty, and if it is a lot, order the pieces as individual transfers and let the bounding box price them.
Hard goods: cases, coolers, tubs and tumblers
Yard and fleet branding does not stop at shirts. UV DTF transfers are $0.10 per square inch and go onto hard, smooth goods with no heat at all: gear cases, hard hats, coolers, tool tubs, clipboards and tumblers. Custom UV DTF carries a $35 order minimum. Die-cut vinyl stickers are $0.22 per square inch, so a 4 by 4 inch sticker for a toolbox or a gear tub is $3.52. For a hat patch look, raised UV patches are $0.65 per square inch on a 48 hour build, and leatherette patches run 72 hours with a minimum of 10 per shape and color.
Getting it to Dix Hills: the 3 PM cutoff and three ways to receive
Dix Hills sits in the Town of Huntington, the same town as our shop at 205 E Main St, Ste 2-1, Huntington NY 11743. That is our only location, so a Dix Hills order reaches you one of three ways. Ship it: free over $99 in the contiguous US, 2 to 5 business days standard or 1 to 3 expedited. Pick it up: same business day after production, by appointment. Or take the $19.99 flat-rate local courier option, available at checkout for eligible Long Island addresses. All three run off the same 3 PM Eastern cutoff, Monday to Friday.
Who orders from Dix Hills
Lawn and landscape maintenance crews
Left chest and 11 inch back logos on cotton tees, hi-vis polyester and fleece, reordered in small runs as crews change through mulch season, mowing season and fall cleanup.
Marine and waterfront service businesses
Long sleeve sun shirts and hoodies for commissioning, haul-out and shrink wrap crews, plus UV DTF at $0.10 per square inch for hard cases, hatches, coolers and tumblers.
Tree, irrigation and hardscape contractors
Large back panels that read from the curb, sleeve marks for the crew lead, and die-cut vinyl stickers at $0.22 per square inch for tool tubs, gear cases and equipment.
Pool, power washing and property service routes
Small repeat orders with no minimum on standard DTF, so a two-shirt top-up for a new tech costs the same per square inch as the spring run of forty.
Dix Hills questions
- How fast can I get crew shirts printed if I'm in Dix Hills?
- Order by 3 PM Eastern on a business day and your transfers are printed, inspected, packed and handed to the carrier that same business day. That is the standard service, not a rush fee. Transit is separate: 2 to 5 business days standard, 1 to 3 expedited. Local pickup in Huntington is available the same business day after production, by appointment.
- Will DTF survive hi-vis polyester work shirts and a daily hot wash?
- Pressed to spec, the transfers hold 50 or more commercial wash cycles at 104 F. For polyester, including hi-vis tees and long sleeve sun shirts, press at 285 to 300 F for 10 to 15 seconds at medium-firm pressure. Cotton takes 300 to 325 F. Running poly at cotton temperatures is what causes scorch and shine.
- Can I order two or three transfers for new hires mid-season?
- Yes. There is no minimum on standard DTF transfers, so a single 3.5 by 3 inch chest logo is a valid order at $0.63. The exceptions sit elsewhere in the catalog: puff DTF needs 10 units, custom UV DTF has a $35 order minimum, and leatherette patches are 10 per shape and color.
- My logo came from the sign shop as a JPG. Will that print?
- Not as it stands. We need a 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size, and a JPG always carries a background. The free background knockout tool on the site runs in your browser and handles most flat backgrounds. The per-square-inch calculator then prices it once you set the final dimensions.
- Do hat patches and puff DTF ship same day too?
- No. Same-day covers standard DTF, UV DTF and gang sheets. Raised UV patches, dimensional UV graphics, fauxbroidery and luxury branding transfers are 48 hours because the cure and build stages are additive. Leatherette patches and puff DTF are 72 hours. Production runs Monday to Friday, so order patch work ahead of the week you need it.
